Garden Route & Knysna Fires – Update 11th June 2017
It is now over 4 days since fires in this area became a serious problem.
We have experienced many destructive fires across The Garden Route from George to Plettenberg Bay but the fires are now mostly contained.
Some fires are still being battled by hundreds of firefighters, locals and volunteers but now that the high winds have dissipated and some rain has fallen, it looks like everything will be under control in the very near future.
In Knysna it has just been reported that evacuations have ceased and that things are returning to normal – although it will take some time for things to fully settle down.
We are all truly proud of our joint-communities and how everyone has come together to help in this very difficult time – and very grateful for all the help that has been donated from outside the area.
None of the properties managed by Dav1es Villa Rentals were lost during the fires and the Team have worked tirelessly to see that houses stayed safe and secure and guests were looked after during the problems.
We are now in the process of cleaning everything up, assessing peripheral damage and arranging repairs as necessary. We face some busy weeks ahead but feel sure that we can get things back on track very soon.
At the moment we have suffered some service interruptions to our properties in Pezula and Noetzie but other properties in Knysna and Plettenburg Bay are functioning as normal.
