One of the advantages of staying on the south western cape coast is the variety of natures wonders. From late June (mostly) to late December you can see a even more diverse selection of whales – especially in the bays – as the Southern Right Whales leave the open seas for our coastline for a bit of breeding and calving before once again moving south to the fertile polar waters.
Ocean Blue Adventures operates a very successful whale watching tour from Plettenberg Bay’s central beach – they have recently had no shortage of amazing photos and encounters to share. You can see a range of their photos on our Facebook page or on their blog.
Of course you don’t have to go far out to see to view these large mammals – you could simply stay at either of our Keurboomstrand properties , our Noetzie Properties or even Cliff House in Knysna and watch them from the deck/terrace!
Even out of season you can see pods of dolphins and non-seasonal whales such as the Bryde’s Whale.
A walk at the Robberg Nature Reserve could also result in whale sightings during season especially on the Plettenberg Bay side.
