A viral video shows that under UV light, sun damage to the skin (normally invisible to the naked eye) is shown in all its (unpleasant) glory.

Luckily, there is good news! With the peak summer season approaching, we’ve got some great summer skincare tips and tricks – so that you can still enjoy your premium summer holidays with ease…

4 easy sun care tips and tricks for your holiday vacation:

1) Exfoliate every morning. This removes dead skin cells and stimulates circulation. Only after you have exfoliated (choose a top quality exfoliator) you can then apply sunscreen for the day and make up if you choose. Remember, you can combine sunscreen with your moisturiser for a hydrating effect.

2) Keep your skin hydrated. When swimming, hiking and walking on the beach – it’s important to keep your skin hydrated with moisture. This can be in the for of a moisturiser – but most importantly, drink water throughout the day! If you drink caffeinated drinks, it means you need to drink triple amounts of water.

3) Sunscreen of course! Apply sunscreen everyday. Try and stay under an umbrella during peak sun hours (11am-2pm) or wear a peak cap during this time. Indoor/Outdoor flow of the living space is very handy when staying in a holiday house – as it’s easier to sit on a semi-covered pool deck (or viewing deck) during peak sunshine hours. Always re-apply sunscreen during your outdoor activities! A teaspoon for the face and a shot glass amount for the body is sufficient, re-applied every 2hrs.

4) Soothe skin that he’s been over-exposed. Turn to nature and try natural cooling gels like aloe vera and even a chamomile tea compress. One serious sunburn can double your risk of melanoma – so schedule a yearly visit to your dermatologist for a full body check.
